Easy Weather App - Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the "Easy Weather" mobile application (the "App"), developed by COGNICON STUDIOS LONDON ("we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and shares information when you use our services.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy aims to be transparent about what data the App uses, why it's used, and your choices regarding that data.

1. Information We Collect and Use

The Easy Weather app primarily focuses on providing weather information based on your location or locations you specify. We handle information as follows:

a. Location Data

  • Current Location: The App requests access to your device's location (precise or approximate) to provide you with current weather conditions and forecasts for your immediate vicinity. This location data is processed on your device and sent to our third-party weather data provider (Open-Meteo) to retrieve weather information. We do not store your precise location data on our servers for tracking purposes.

  • Searched and Favorite Locations: When you search for a city or save a location as a favorite, the App stores the latitude, longitude, and the name of that location locally on your device (in a local database) so you can quickly access weather for those places. This data is not transmitted to our servers.

  • How Location is Used: Your location (whether current, searched, or favorited) is solely used to fetch relevant weather data from the weather API and display it to you within the App.

b. Non-Personal Data / Usage Data

  • No Direct Analytics: The Easy Weather app does not directly collect personal analytical data or usage statistics (e.g., how often you open the app, which features you use) to our own servers.

  • Standard Device/Platform Data: Your device (Android OS) and any integrated third-party services (like Google Mobile Ads or Google Play Services) may collect standard, anonymized device information, crash logs, and usage data to function correctly and provide their services. This data is managed by them, not directly by Easy Weather.

2. Third-Party Services

The App utilizes third-party services that may collect information to perform their functions. These services operate under their own privacy policies.

a. Open-Meteo (Weather Data Provider)

  • The App fetches weather data from the Open-Meteo API. When you request weather for a specific location, the coordinates (latitude and longitude) are sent to Open-Meteo's servers.

  • Open-Meteo's data collection and privacy practices are governed by their own policy. You can find more information about how Open-Meteo handles data on their website: https://open-meteo.com/en/privacy (or their general site if a specific privacy policy URL isn't readily available).

b. Google Mobile Ads (AdMob)

  • The App displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. Google may use information about your device, your app usage, and other apps you have on your device to serve personalized ads.

  • This may include the use of your device's advertising ID.

  • You can manage your ad personalization settings on your Android device by going to Settings > Google > Ads.

c. Google Play Services / Fused Location Provider

3. Data Security

We value your trust in providing us your information, thus we strive to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. However, remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

4. Data Retention

Location data for your saved favorite cities is stored locally on your device until you choose to delete them from within the App. No personal location data is retained on our servers.

5. Your Choices and Control

  • Location Permissions: You can enable or disable location services for the Easy Weather app at any time through your device's operating system settings (Settings > Apps > Easy Weather > Permissions > Location). If you disable location permission, you will still be able to search for cities manually.

  • Ad Personalization: You can opt out of personalized advertising by Google through your Android device settings as mentioned above.

  • Favorite Locations: You can add and remove favorite locations from within the app at any time, which controls the local storage of those coordinates.

6. Children's Privacy

These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to do necessary actions.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. These changes are effective immediately after they are posted on this page.
